CHOMPI is a warm welcome to the world of sampling and synthesis. It gives you everything you need to capture the sounds around you and instantly turn them into music.

It was designed to be used by anybody, with a fast, intuitive workflow and go-anywhere portability, but beneath CHOMPI’s friendly appearance is a full-featured instrument that’s ready to go deeper when you are.

Two instruments in one

CHOMPI is a complete starting point for making music with samples, anywhere. Two instruments in one with alternate firmwares:

TAPE - a varispeed looper with multi-fx
TEMPO - a sample slicing pattern generator

CHOMPI: TAPE

CHOMPI TAPE is a free-form sampler with a varispeed looper and a fast, intuitive workflow.

Transport knob provides control over loop playback speed & direction, as well as manual tape scrubbing when loop is paused.
Overdub decay controls allow for “frippertronics” loop composition techniques.
Real time audio thru mode for live FX and loop recording.
Plays a one-shot sample on the lower row of white keys. Each white key can hold a completely different sample.
Plays a single sample chromatically across the two-octave chromatic keyboard (both black + white keys).
- Magic Wand: combo delay + reverb
- Tape Saturation: with wow & flutter
- Multi-Mode Filter: <lowpass & highpass>
Re-sample the master output including resampling the looper.
Use the looper and effects to process external gear through CHOMPI’s input and resampling features.
Copy-paste a sample into the looper (or vice versa) to save, recall, and build evolving compositions.
Explore 3 different routing modes (including send/return) that expand the possibilities with external audio and effects.

CHOMPI: TEMPO

TEMPO is a brand new instrument that reimagines CHOMPI as an intuitive groovebox: A hands-on way to make syncable patterns and rhythms.

A totally redesigned Playback Engine that runs directly from the internal memory
- Trading max sample length for super-charged sample processing power
- Any sound sample can now be transformed into a synth voice, rhythmic pattern, etc…
A completely new FX Engine — combining dual clock-synced delays, each with unique randomization probabilities, buffer freezing, side-chain feedback, and send/mix controls.
An intuitive Pattern Generator with note probability, rest patterns, and arpeggiator modes that can be applied independently per engine.
A brand-new Slice Engine, for rhythmic/percussive sample chopping and clock-synced dissection.
Explicit Preset Saving — allows for snap-back recall, even after parameters have been adjusted.
Quick Save Snap Shots — Dual instant save states containing every parameter across the entire device… perfect for live performance, quick A/B recall when comparing a new idea, seamless transitions between compositions, and more ;)
The TEMPO MIDI workflow has a strong emphasis on clock synchronization and interfacing with other external devices.
